The Ball is Round.
I recently picked up David Goldblatt’s The Ball is Round: A Global History of Soccer from my local book shop, and I cannot recommend it more. Hulking out at over 1000 pgs, the tome represents three years of intensive study of the worldwide phenomenon of the beautiful game–presenting one of the best surveys of the sport I’ve yet to find. I was giving some more thought to the appropriation by the mainstream of proper skinhead gear, and how Ben Sherman has sorta gone to crap, and how I have to scour fancy shops for the quality Italian/English made Fred Perry gear as of late–which then led me to the Fred Perry online shop, which sorta makes me grimace with how its filled to the brim with sorta foppish dandy-types rather than images of lad or byrds like these. Its not that I don’t have a great love for our mod and suede headed brethren, its just be nice to see these brands, which many a skinhead has given long support to, could just give back… even a little… new byrd picts after the jump… 
Hey young love…errr… ROWDY PUNX AND SKINZ!!! After much too long of a delay we’re back up and running and no better way to bust back onto the scene than with another mixtape for your listening pleasure… 
Back with a bang, yet taking a break from the normal byrd picts for a moment to discuss fashion… now we all know that any proper geezer worth ‘is snuff is all up on the latest an’ greatest skinhead fashion… always sure to make sure ‘is boots are shined up real nice, hair properly cropped, bennie pressed nice… but like any great subculture, its always only a matter of time before the mainstream comes calling… 
Sadly, the ticket cost is a bit much for us skint fucks behind the keyboards here at skinbyrd.com, but I’m certain this’ll be a great time. I mean, 4SKINS w/ HODGES!!!!
