Bastards in Claret & Blue

After spending a fine Sunday afternoon in the wasteland that is Ohio watching West Ham take the on Columbus Crew, we figured a few of you might appreciate this documentary from 1985 regarding the infamous ICF–especially in light of the rumblings regarding the so called riot between the Crew’s Hudson Street Hooligans and the infamous bastards in claret & blue. Its long, and many of the lads could use a haircut, but its quite worth your time…

This is an interesting documentary that I hadn’t seen before, but it is a documentary about football casuals and not Skinheads. They even admitted it at the beginning of the film. When people hear about football violence they conjure up an image of a Skinhead, when it is usually these guys. We are not the same, they look for trouble, while we don’t, but we don’t walk away when it comes. To learn more about them go to www.footballcasuals.com.

Two good films on football violence are The Firm (1988) starring Gary Oldman and the The Football Factory (2004) starring Danny Dyer.

Myself and some guys from cincinnati were at the match as well. Fine game, songs, and pints. The ‘riot’ was a good way to top it all off too, haha.
