Make Your Mark

ACAB are, err were, a Skinhead band of the highest quality from Malaysia. Sadly, like most music from so called third world countries, they have been ignored by most of the world–not here, however! When we here at Skinbyrd.com scream ‘Working Class Pride’ worldwide, we mean it! Not just England, France and the USA! But the whole of the world! In fact we’d like to start featuring more top-notch skinhead bands from across the globe, so please do feel free to get in touch and point us in the direction of the finest street music from your corner of the globe. After the jump, videos of ACAB Read more »

The Modern World

Its been a bit, yes I know, but we’re still here, pining away for the downward spiral of our favored footie club (FC Barcelona), drowning our sorrows in pint after pint while the strains of sweet soul music fill the air. While many of you lot will fill the bars today to watch Chelski take on the dark forces of Man U in the Champions League final, we’ll be down at the rubber factory, steel cap boots on our feet, dreaming of what could have been. In other news… Read more »

I Got Your Number…

Or at least I wish I did… maybe if I play this for you, you’ll give it to me?

(From the 1994 CD re-issue by Step-1 Music, written by Simon Edwards of Riot City Records, August, 1994)
Riotous Assembly was more of a necessity than an idea. During 1981 so many bands were springing up all over the UK, making demo tapes, doing gigs, and generally having a damned good rant at the world, that we (Riot City) were gently pursuaded into releasing a selection of these bands, together with a few more established Riot City bands. This is a New Age…

When I hear… the sound of concrete and steel… I sense a rythm, that science can’t feel… I feel the beat… of our hearts as one… I hold your colour, when my vision is gone… This power is something but the force is blind… Transmitted through a network, of your own kind… As minutes tick away… and days become years… I know this old feeling, it’s a substance in my tears… And the kids on the street, And the kids everywhere, And all I gotta say is the kids don’t care… Read more »

Don’t Give A Toss…

So tell me, do you remember in 1969? Seeing all the skinheads standing in a line? Foaming at the mouth, Waiting for a fight? High boots, cropped hair, what a fuckin sight! Come back of the skinhead, come back of the boot. People that we don’t beat up, We’re gonna fucking shoot! We are the new breed, we will have our say… Read more »

Skinheads, Alright!

Its been too long, our dear friends! Things have just been too hectic as of late, working triple overtime at the factory and down the pub. Plus, it seems I got in a bit of byrd trouble and was spending a little time sleeping in the backstreets, sleeping in my boots and braces, always with a razorblade and angry face. Anyway, enough with my whining, what’s more important is the return of the mixtape! Read more »

Anger & Fear

Just look at this wee little fresh cut–we’d like to think that the soundtrack to a gleaming razor being applied to such a young chaps head would be somtheing akin to this weeks mixtape. A little of the UK standbys, some mid-90s US street rock, classic Italian and Japanese oi, solid true Jamaican reggae and of course modern skinhead heroes!

So, here we go again, a few days late, but the return of the glorious skinbyrd.com mixtape–volume three! Read more »

Even tough guys need someone, sometimes…

With Valentines day coming up an’ all, we figured we’d get a little sappy. Just look at these lovely byrds, out on the prowl for some working class yob to call their own, and then there’s that poor lost lad in the background… so lonely in his dreary world of working on the docks, living on chips and pints or marmite an’ toast–with nothing to look forward in life but the dream of another failed Liverpool run at the title… no one waiting at home, cooking up a proper toad in the hole, or bangers an mash… Well, Cock Sparrer feels the lads pain… Read more »

Self Conscious Over You…

You can thank our good friend Carl for ripping this tasty cut of The Outcasts performing their top tier track “Self Concious Over You.” Part of the same Belfast punk scene that gave us the genius that is The Undertones, Stiff Little Fingers, Rudi etc, they can also be thanked, inadvertantly, for helping to introduce the cult of the shaven head to the United States, as it was them who first shaved a young Harley Flannigan’s head (as he was on tour in Ireland with his band the Stimulators), who in turned brought skinhead back to New York, and the rest is history…
